The computer doesn’t show any available networks or won’t connect to available networks.

Ensure the Wi-Fi adapter is turned on. Go into Settings > Network and Internet > Wi-fi > Change Adapter Options. In the control panel window, right-click on Wi-Fi and select Enable.

Ensure the Wi-Fi card is turned on via the switch sharing the f8 key.

Sometimes the computer will not update the Wi-Fi drivers along with the usual system updates like it is supposed to. To manually update them, open up Device Manager from the taskbar. Navigate to Network Adapters and select the name of the Network Adapter in the laptop. This is usually named something like Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265. Right-click and select Update Driver.

These drivers are also downloadable from the company’s website https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/produ….

If updating does not work, you are also able to reinstall the driver entirely. From the control panel menu from above, right click on the Network Adapter again and select Uninstall. Restart the computer and the drivers will install automatically.

The computer has a blank screen or is not responding to keystrokes or trackpad.

Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off(10 seconds). Then, restart the computer.

If the above step did not work, then activate the emergency reset button. This is located on the bottom of the laptop and can be activated by inserting a paperclip in the hole. Connect the laptop to AC power and turn it on.

If the computer screen is completely black and the computer is not responding to any attempts to turn it on, the motherboard could be malfunctioning. To replace the motherboard, refer to our motherboard replacement guide.

The trackpad does not sense movement when in use.

Lenovo recommends immediately installing the newest driver and firmware packages, driver first, then the firmware. To check what software and firmware is installed, go to the Windows 10 search bar and type Thunderbolt, right click on the blue and white lightning bolt icon, select About > Details > NVM Firmware version. Newest versions of both the driver and firmware can be found on the company’s website. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/solut

The battery life is significantly less than advertised or decreased from its original capacity.

4K screens inherently require more battery power to display the same content as a 1080p screen. Battery life is a trade-off that is made when purchasing a laptop with a 4K screen. To best extend the battery life, enable Windows 10 battery saver mode by selecting on the battery icon in the system tray and moving the slider to the left, selecting “Battery Saver.”

As a consumable component, lithium ion batteries have a finite number of charging cycles they can withstand before they greatly lose their original capacity. For a step by step guide to replace the battery, refer to our battery replacement guide.
