Screen stays black, does not light up, does not respond to input or goes out intermittently

  • Make sure the power is onCheck the laptop is not in sleeping modeIf the laptop is in sleeping mode, press Fn key and hold it for 10 seconds

  • Press Fn and F7 keys simultaneously to ensure that the output is set to the internal displayDisconnect all external displaysRestart the system and verify it works on startupPress F1 for BIOS setup utilityIf there is still no video display, contact the Lenovo support center

  • Backlight connection may be broken if the screen lights does not stay on after the laptop is turned onTo test the backlight, tap the base of the screen on the backside of the laptop while it is onIf the screen flickers in response to the taps, the backlight connector is brokenTo replace the backlight, follow this LCD replacement guide

Speakers have no output

  • If the laptop is in sleeping mode, press Fn key and hold it for 10 seconds

  • Disconnect all external displays

  • Press F1 for BIOS setup utility

  • Under volume settings, ensure that volume is greater than zeroIf the mute key (located on upper left side of keyboard) is lit, deactivate it by pressing the key again

  • Enter device manager and navigate to “Audio input and output"Select the designated speakers for your systemAre the drivers disabled? If so, enable themMake any available updates to the driver

  • Check speaker assembly and/or replace them with this speaker replacement guide

Displays black screen when opened, or refuses to open

  • Are the drivers disabled? If so, enable themMake any available updates to the driver

  • Webcam incorrectly identifiedIf incorrectly identified, reinstall and update webcam driverWebcam disabledEnable the webcam in “Device Manager”

  • Perform power drain by following these steps:Unplug the AC adapter and remove the batteryHold the power button down for at least 10 secondsReconnect the adapter and power on the systemCheck to see that the webcam is functioning

  • If you have ruled out all software issues, follow this guide to replace your broken webcam

Laptop cannot access the internet or connect to wifi access points

  • If incorrectly identified, reinstall and update webcam driver

  • Enable the webcam in “Device Manager”

  • Unplug the AC adapter and remove the batteryHold the power button down for at least 10 secondsReconnect the adapter and power on the systemCheck to see that the webcam is functioning

  • Make sure the Wifi switch is set to ON (should see green tab)Navigate to “Network & Internet Settings” to check that laptop is not set to airplane mode

  • Check the wireless driver in device managerIs it disabled? If so, enable itIf the issue is not resolved, search for wireless software updates and install those applicable

Sticky, missing, or unresponsive keys

  • Is it disabled? If so, enable itIf the issue is not resolved, search for wireless software updates and install those applicable

  • Remove and inspect mechanically stuck keys for damage or corrosionReplace the damaged or corroded keys with this guideClean key contacts of dust and debrisDisconnect all external devicesReset system BIOS to default settingsPress the power button for 10-15 seconds after removing the battery and connect only the AC Adapter to turn on the computer

The DVD Drive is jammed or not opening
