When the computer is unplugged it shuts down almost immediately.
Make sure the outlet you are using is functional. Then plug it in and make sure the computer is charging. Make sure the computer has charged for a long period of time before unplugging it. If the computer turns off immediately the battery is bad. If the charger was simply not charging the computer consistently, then the power cord or adaptor is probably faulty.
Unplug the charger from the power source, then check the power cord for any cuts or tears. If there are any cuts or tears, you may need to replace your charging cable.
If the computer only holds a charge when plugged in and the power cord is in good and working condition, the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced by following this guide.
When the computer is on, the screen will freeze when using it
Close any tasks that you are not using at the moment. If the problem persists, try restarting your computer, as background tasks may be running which you are unaware of. If the problem still persists, you may have a malfunctioning hard-drive.
If the problem continues, it may be necessary to replace the hard-drive. To replace it simply follow this guide.
When sound is played it is distorted.
Plug in headphones that use an auxiliary jack to determine whether the sound works. Make sure headphones are fully plugged in. If the sound is still distorted, the speakers are likely broken.
If you play sound loudly through your computer speakers, and you can’t hear anything or the sound is distorted, replace the speakers by following this guide.
The laptop gets really hot on the bottom and randomly shuts off.
If the fan or vents are blocked due to dust, giving the laptop a good clean can help. Make sure to use a compressed air duster when cleaning. If the problem continues, replace the fan.
If the computer fan and vents have been cleaned and the computer is still overheating, replace the fan by following this guide.
Computer takes longer to perform tasks than it should.
If your computer is feeling generally slow and sluggish, it might just need to be restarted. Otherwise try opening the task manager and closing all the unnecessary background apps. If the problem continues, there is not enough RAM.
Your computer might have outdated or faulty RAM. If it is shutting off or crashing during memory intensive work, such as graphic design, this could mean that your RAM is faulty. The solution is to install more RAM or replace the old ones. To do this, simply follow this guide.
