Introduction
RAM serves as the middle man between the computer’s central processing unit (CPU) and its Hard Drive. It stores information that the CPU is currently processing for quick random access.
If your computer’s performance diminishes with prolonged use, it restarts of freezes sporadically or files become corrupted when used often, you may need to replace your RAM.
Replacing your RAM is also a good way to increase the speed of a cheaper or older computer as the RAM often “Bottlenecks” the system by limiting the amount of information the CPU has access to at a given time.
What you need

Step 3
RAM
- RAM cards can be damaged from exposure to a static charge through contact with the hand or other body parts. Though the damage of one discharge is not severe, multiple exposures can cause your RAM to fail.
- When changing the RAM please wear an anti-static wrist strap on your dominant hand and attach the alligator clips to one of the screw holes in the laptop body.
- Using a metal spudger, pry the RAM cover out of the clips on the motherboard. You will need to go around all sides.
- Remove the cover.
- When replacing the cover make sure it is in all of the clips.

Step 4
- To remove the RAM card simply pull the clips on the sides outwards and the RAM will tilt up.
- Gently pull the RAM out of the motherboard.
- When inserting a new RAM card, ensure you put it in at an angle just like it came out. Then push it down into the clips.

To Diane: Take your device to Best Buy Geek Squad or to Device Pit Stop. Otherwise, Do you have a skilled nephew / neighbor who can replicate this?
Can you please confirm if the DDR4 PC4-21300 RAM is accepted by the Flex4? Thanks!

Hey there,
Any suggestions on which RAM card to buy to replace this one? I have 2 GB of RAM now that came with the laptop and I obviously want to replace it to try and speed up my Lenovo. Will it damage the laptop if the RAM is “too much” for the pc? Can I find a single RAM card that is more than 8 GB or faster? What GB do you suggest for faster speeds?
Thanks for your help.
