- Using a Phillips #0 screwdriver, unscrew all thirteen 6.5 mm screws from the back panel.

- Remove the CD reader with an opening tool. It is possible you have to apply a substantial amount of force so watch your fingers while doing so.
- Lift the cover using the opening tool on different spots along the side of the laptop.

- There may be some number of Phillips #0 screws holding down the hard drive, which will need to be removed before the drive can be unplugged. If you are following this guide and find the locations of such screws, consider contributing to this guide by documenting the process and adding it here.
- Remove the hard drive by sliding it to the left to gently disconnect it from the black port on the right of the hard drive slot.
