Introduction

For your safety, drain your Lenovo Ideapad’s battery before you begin this procedure. A charged lithium-ion battery can create a dangerous and uncontrollable fire if accidentally punctured. If your battery is swollen, take extra precautions.

What you need

              Back Panel               
  • Before you proceed, make sure your computer is turned off and is not connected to any power source.
  • Remove the single 7 mm Phillips #1 screw securing the optical drive.
  • Be sure to store the screws carefully as they are easy to lose. A magnetic project mat is recommended

Step 2

  • Carefully remove the optical drive bracket by pulling the bezel away from the laptop.

  • Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the twelve screws around the back panel from the laptop.

  • Use an opening tool to pry out the back cover.

  • Remove the back panel by pulling it up and away from the laptop.

              Battery               
  • Remove the four 6mm screws using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Step 7

  • Disconnect the battery connector by pulling toward the battery parallel to the motherboard.

Step 8

  • Remove the battery.

Remove the battery.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

I can’t get past the first step…pulling out the optical card. The rest I think I can do because I have done things like this before. I unscrewed the screw bu can’t pull it out.
