The laptop fails to turn on with the power button.
Plug the charger into the wall and check to see if the charge light is on. If the light isn’t on, then the charger could be stripped or the wire is frayed, and a new charger needs to be purchased. Make sure it’s plugged in correctly and also try multiple power outlets.
If the charger is working and the laptop powers up when the charger is connected, then something may be wrong with the battery. Make sure that you check that it’s seated properly; you can replace it by following this guide.
Wireless networks do not appear when trying to search for them.
If no wireless networks show up, the drivers for the internal wireless card may be out-of-date or corrupted. You can download the drivers here.
After trying to repair the drivers, if the computer still fails to detect wireless networks, the issue may be that the internal wireless card itself is either loose or damaged. See this guide for instructions on how to replace the wireless card in the Lenovo Essential G555-0873.
The computers freezes during normal use frequently.
If your RAM is loose, or damaged in any way, this can cause your computer to freeze frequently. Follow this guide for instructions on how to replace the RAM in the Lenovo Essential G555-0873.
The computer may not have enough RAM to process what it’s trying to run. This can be fixed by increasing the amount of RAM by following the RAM replacement guide.
When trying to boot the computer, a blue screen appears with a long error.
Hard drives get slower with time and may stop working entirely, and if data cannot be read from the hard drive, it may cause a Blue Screen of Death.
Problems with the CPU can also cause a Blue Screen of Death. It’s possible that your CPU became unseated, or is faulty entirely. Follow the instructions here to replace or reseat the CPU on a Lenovo Essential G555-0873.
When the power button is pressed, the fans turn on, but no picture appears.
If the computer turns on and graphics can be seen from close up with a flashlight, then the backlight may have gone out.
If the computer turns on but no graphics can be seen on the screen, then the integrated graphics card may be faulty. The integrated graphics card is packaged with the CPU which can be replaced by following this guide.
Computer randomly turns off and is very hot to the touch.
The computer may be overheating due to the heat sink being clogged with dust and unable to properly cool the computer. You can follow the guide on how to replace the fan in a Lenovo Essential G555-0873.
The thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink may be old, causing it to not function well. This can be solved by applying new thermal paste.
