What you need

Step 1

              Removing the keyboard               
  • Check out other guides for removal of the keyboard for Lenovo N23/N21 Chromebooks.
  • Remove the screws from the bottom of the Chromebook.
  • On a clean surface, fold the Chromebook screen over to the back to remove the keyboard.
  • Using a Jimmy remove the keyboard starting at the top of the keyboard.
  • When the entire keyboard has been popped up lift the keyboard from the end opposite the trackpad and carefully disconnect the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cables.
  • Flip over the keyboard so that the keys side is down and place it to the side of your workspace.
  • Check that the thermal pad is still stuck to either the keyboard or the motherboard.

Check that the thermal pad is still stuck to either the keyboard or the motherboard.

Step 2

              Remove the old daughter board               
  • Power off the computer by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Disconnect the battery
  • Remove the ribbon cable connecting the Daughter and Motherboard from the motherboard side first.
  • Remove the ribbon cable from the daughter board.
  • Remove the four screws to release the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the speaker wire from the daughterboard.
  • Remove the daughterboard from the Chromebook.

Power off the computer by holding down the power button for a few seconds.

Disconnect the battery

Remove the ribbon cable connecting the Daughter and Motherboard from the motherboard side first.

Remove the ribbon cable from the daughter board.

Remove the four screws to release the motherboard.

Disconnect the speaker wire from the daughterboard.

Remove the daughterboard from the Chromebook.

Step 3

              Install new Daughterboard               
  • Place the new daughterboard in the chromebook.
  • Plug in the speakers to the daughterboard.
  • Screw the daughterboard into place.
  • Connect the ribbon cable, first to the daughterboard and then to the motherboard.

Place the new daughterboard in the chromebook.

Plug in the speakers to the daughterboard.

Screw the daughterboard into place.

Connect the ribbon cable, first to the daughterboard and then to the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
