What you need

              Required Tools               
  • Socket wrench, and 5/16 inch and 9/32 inch sockets
  • Pliers
  • Container for gasoline
  • If you don’t have US Standard (inch) sockets, you can substitute a 8 mm metric for the 5/16" socket and a 7 mm metric for the 9/32".

              Disassemble the Pull Starter               
  • Removing the pull starter allows for much easier access to replace the carburetor.
  • Unscrew the 3 mounting screws with a 5/16 inch wrench.

              Remove the Pull Starter               
  • Lift up the pull starter once the screws have been removed.

              Remove the Air Filter               
  • Take off the air filter cover.
  • Remove the filter element to access the carburetor mounting screws.

              Remove the Air Filter Housing               
  • Remove the 2 screws marked “A” on the photo with a 5/16 inch socket.

              Carburetor disassembly               
  • Remove the 2 screws marked “B” on the photo with the 9/32 inch socket wrench.

              Dismount the Air Filter Housing               
  • Detach the housing by disconnecting the breather hose.
  • Remove the housing.

              Remove the Fuel Tank and Carburetor               
  • Slide the tank up to unhook it.
  • Pull the carburetor towards you.
  • Tilt it downwards to separate the rod from the regulator marked “C” in the photo.

Step 9

              Detach the Fuel Tank               
  • Using the pliers, slide off the clamp to disengage the fuel hose.

              Empty the Fuel Tank               
  • Drain the gasoline into an appropriate container.

              Replace the Carburetor               
  • Reconnect the hose from the tank to the carburetor.
  • Reposition the spring clamp with the pliers.

              Mount the Fuel Tank / Carburetor Assembly               
  • Holding the carburetor on its side, insert the throttle rod onto the throttle plate control.
  • Rotate the assembly up 90° and position the carburetor on the intake pipe.
  • Slide the fuel tank into its mounting notches.

              Reassemble the Carburetor and Air Filter Housing               
  • Refit the breather hose.
  • Reposition the air filter housing, taking care to align the screw holes with the support bracket.

              Replace the Air Filter Housing Screws               
  • Tighten the 2 screws marked “A” on the photo with a 5/16 inch socket.

              Replace the Carburetor Screws               
  • Tighten the 2 screws marked “B” on the photo with a 9/32 inch socket.

Step 16

              Install the Air Filter Element and Cover               
  • Refit the filter element and the cover, taking care to align the notches in the cover.

              Reinstall the Pull Starter               
  • Reposition the pull starter and secure it with the three screws using the 5/16 inch socket.
