Introduction
What you need
Step 1
Open the Enclosure
- turn the enclosure upside down
- there are 2 little openings at the back plate (with the USB and power sockets, at the top of the image) where you can use a flat screwdriver to pry the plate open a little
- when the edges are loose, you can slide the back plate upwards
- with the back plate removed, you can push the inner frame holding the hard drive out of the metal enclosure

Step 2
Remove Hard Drive
- remove the 2 screws that hold the little controller PCB down
- lift the internal hard drive at the other end (by wiggling the enclosure turned upside down to let it gently come out) just enough so that it can be disconnected from the SATA port
- be careful to not break the connector on the PCB (which is still fixed to the internal back plate with the USB and power sockets)
