Introduction
What you need
Step 1
Analysis
- Test 1: Unlock the motor head and swivel it up. Does the pawl move into the motor head housing when the locking lever is actuated?
- The pawl retracts -> mechanism OK, continue with test 2
- The pawl does not retract -> mechanism is defective, repair options after opening the housing is not described in these instructions.
- Test 2: Check the position of the locking lever with the motor head lowered:
- -> Lever engaged correctly. The motor head is locked and cannot be lifted. Then the head shouldn’t hit while kneading ;-)
- -> Lever not properly engaged. The motorhead can be lifted without operating the lever -> continue with step 2

Step 2
Check the adjustment of the motor head
- Next, check the correct adjustment of the motor head according to the instructions https://de.ifixit.com/Anleitung/KitchenA …
- Make sure that the distance is as small as possible according to the instructions (5ct coin should just be touched while the machine is running and only move a few millimeters further in the bowl) If necessary, carry out adjustment according to the instructions.
- If an adjustment was necessary and the head was put down, the problem with the beating motor head can already be resolved and the lock engages correctly. Repeat step 1 - test 2.
- If the problem persists, go to step 3

Step 3
Repair
- Fold the motor head up until it clicks into place
- Carry out the following steps with caution, only remove a small amount of material at once. Regularly check the locking according to step 1 - test 2. Already barely visible material removal can lead to an improvement of the locking. If too much material is removed, there will be too much play and the head will move despite the locking mechanism.
- Work carefully and guide the device well so as not to scratch the housing.
- Carefully work the rear edge of the pawl with the Dremel and remove material evenly. Material removal per pass in the area of a few hundredths of a millimeter, then check the locking again.
- Repeat until the lock engages correctly and without play.
