If the keyboard doesn’t work with the new batteries, doesn’t charge the batteries, or doesn’t communicate with the unifying receiver, a mainboard replacement may be necessary. The replacement circuit board can be purchased via eBay. Search eBay for “210-000797” which is the code for the PCB.

Actually, if the battery change doesn’t work, it’s more probable that the issue is a cable disconnected around the location of the batteries. A little piece of tape on the cable will fix it!

They changed the design. The batteries are no longer accessible through the slot. They want you to trash it and get another one. Can you guys do another teardown for the new eco-destructive design?

If you’re looking for a solution in the exact same model, you can still remove the entire backside of the keyboard and replace batteries :) . It’s a bit more complicated, but I did it and it’s fine. You can find videos online about how to do it.
