The camcorder will not respond or turn on.

Make sure that there is a battery in the camcorder.

See this guide to show you how it is done.

A common problem with a device not turning on is that the battery is not making a good or proper connection. To clean the connection, dampen a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol. Take the battery out (see this guide) and rub the Q-tip on the contacts of both the camcorder and the battery. Allow both sets of contacts a few minutes to dry before re-installing the battery.

Make sure that your battery is charged. Plug one end of the charging cable into the camcorder, and the other end into the wall outlet. If the light is blinking, that indicates that the battery is charging. Full charging time is 5 hours, and the light will turn off once the charge is complete.

Your battery may not be securely inserted due to a broken battery cover. You can view this guide to show you how to tighten or replace the battery cover.

If the power (also the record button) button seems to be loose, or not making a good connection, it might be worn out, and need to be replaced. You might be able to find the part you need here, or by contacting JVC. Once you have a new power button, then view this guide to show you how it is done.

The battery in the camcorder will not charge.

Check that your charger is plugged into both an outlet and the camcorder. If using a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged into an outlet, and that the power button is turned on.

If you have tried the above suggestions, and your camcorder will still not charge your battery, it may be time to take more drastic repair steps. It is possible that the internal housing that holds the battery may be faulty and need to be replaced. See this guide to show you how it is done.
