If you are getting the IPC$ error in Windows NT or Windows 2000, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  • Determine the username used on the Windows machine.
  • Add this username to the Windows NT or 2000 machine. To add a user to the Windows NT or 2000 machine, you must first either be logged in as the administrator or have administrator rights. If you have these rights, click Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click the Users and Passwords icon. In the Users and Passwords window, click the Add button and add the username of the Windows 9x or Windows ME machine.
