This troubleshooting page will help you to diagnose problems with the HyperX QuadCast S.

The recorded audio from the microphone has loud crackling or popping sounds.

Ensure the USB to USB C cable is plugged in fully to the base of the microphone. The microphone will light up, signifying there is sufficient power being received. If the problem persists while the cable is fully plugged in, the line could be faulty. It would help if you then considered buying a replacement USB to USB C cable.

It’s possible that the auxiliary and USB ports of the microphone are faulty. The auxiliary and USB ports will be connected to an I/O board inside the microphone. To replace these ports you should follow this guide.

The microphone has a metal mesh on its outside, which inside is red foam. This foam is the device’s pop filter which shields wind, air blasts, breathing, and other sounds which may cause loud pops in the audio. You can try to replace this pop filter using this guide.

Make sure to distance yourself from the microphone. Being too close to the microphone will increase its detected audio. Spacing yourself several inches away will help to decrease the number of unwanted sounds. This spacing technique may help to eliminate the popping and cracking sounds, saving you the time of replacing any components.

The RGB microphone is not lighting up.

When using the HyperX QuadCast S microphone, you may control the RGB settings through the Ngenuity software. Some of the time the settings in the software will have the led turned off, disabling any illumination. Download the software from the official HyperX site, and renable the illumination.

The microphone’s noise level or clipping point is distorted.

To reduce the amount of background noise picked up by the microphone, follow the following steps.

  • Search for Control Panel on your PC.Now select Control Panel and click on the Hardware and Sound option.Next, choose the Sound option.Click on the Recording tab.Right-click the HyperX Quadcast S microphone, and click Properties.On the Levels tab, set the microphone to 100.Click Ok to save settings.

To correct the HyperX QuadCast S level settings, follow the following steps.

  • Go to Control Panel.Click on Hardware and Sound.Select Sound.Click on the Recording tab.Right-click on the page and select Show Disabled Devices.Right-click the HyperX QuadCast S microphone and click Enable.Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.Right-click and click Properties.Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider to 100.Click OK.

The microphone is not recording audio input.

You may need to allow permissions on certain apps to record audio from the HyperX QuadCast S microphone. To do so, follow these simple steps.

  • First on your PC select Start.Click on Settings.Access Privacy.Go to Microphone.In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change.Make sure the device is turned on.You may now access and change the settings for different apps on your PC.

To mute the microphone, touch the “Tap-To-Mute Sensor” (the microphone mute symbol) on the top of the microphone. This will turn off the microphone’s illumination, muting the microphone. If you notice the microphone to not pick up any audio, make sure that the illumination is on showing you’re unmuted.

The I/O board provides the interface and access to the auxiliary and USB ports for the device. If this I/O board is faulty, no power will be received by the device, not allowing it to function properly. You may need to replace this board using this guide.

Microphone audio is too low, or silent.

To capture the best audio make sure the microphone is sitting in a horizontal position and the HyperX logo is pointing toward you. This will allow the audio sensor to correctly pick up any audio input.

Another solution is using different settings on the Microphone. You can change the sensitivity settings by adjusting the polar pattern knob on the back. Or you may change the gain of the microphone by using the gain control knob.

The gain control knob is responsible for the volume level of your microphone’s input audio. If the audio that’s being recorded is too loud or quiet it could be because the knob is faulty. If so follow this guide.

Microphone audio cannot be muted.

The Tap-To-Mute Sensor is responsible for muting the HyperX QuadCast S microphone. If this sensor is faulty, you will not be able to mute the audio being recorded. To replace the tap-to-mute sensor, follow this guide.
