The screen stays black and will not respond to touch or buttons being pressed.
Plug your device in to charger. If screen does not turn on within a few minutes, it is possible that the battery has a deep discharge, so leave the phone plugged in for an hour to see if that resolves the problem.
Take the battery out, wait 10 seconds, and put it back in. You can also try taking the SIM card out at the same time because sometimes the battery and SIM card interact and cause the screen to go blank.
To force a reboot on the phone, simultaneously hold down the volume up and power buttons for about 10 seconds until the phone reboots. If the screen still does not power on, check the top of the phone to see if the internal LED light is on. If the LED light is not on, the problem is most likely internal. The back of the phone is hot to the touch.
It is possible that the processor of the phone is carrying too big of a workload and that is causing the battery to overheat. To fix this, close out of applications that are not in use and try to avoid streaming videos for long periods of time. To close out applications, hold down the multi-tasking button until you can see the applications. Then, swipe the applications off screen to close them.

Your phone shuts down randomly.
It could possibly be a defective battery causing your phone to power off. If this is the case, replace it with a new one.
Follow these steps to fix it:
Use your phone until the battery dies and the screen turns off completely. > Turn your phone back on. It will likely shut down again before it finishes booting, but the battery isn’t completely dead yet. > Repeat this process several more times. Power it on, let it keep trying to boot up, then let it die. Once, the logo stops appearing, and your phone quits trying to boot up, stop trying to turn you phone on. > Without turning your phone on, plug it into a charger. Let it sit there plugged in and turned off for at least 6 hours. The goal is to let it charge to 100% without the phone being powered on. > Once the battery is fully charged, you can continue normal usage.
If the problem occurs when you are using a certain app, then all you have to do is uninstall it. Go to “Settings” > “Apps” > “See All” > Scroll to find the app > Click on it > Click “Uninstall”
If your phone keeps powering down, then it might be because your phone is not updated. Go into “Settings” > “System Updates” > “Check for system updates.”
Your phone has a SIM card but is not connected to a cellular network.
You may be outside of your carrier’s service range. Check to see if other users with the same service carrier nearby have service.
Your phone may be missing the most recent update, which can interfere with the carrier settings. In order to check for updates, first connect to a WiFi network. Then go to “Settings” > “System Updates” > “Check for system updates.” If there is an update available, update your phone. If not, attempt to reset your network settings.
With the phone powered off, open the SIM card tray. While the tray is open check for water damage. If there is no water damage remove the SIM card and replace it back in the tray. Then restart your HTC Desire 826. If the SIM card shows signs of damage, contact your carrier for a replacement.
Your phone is plugged into the charger but not charging.
Check the charging port for any debris or damage and carefully clean out port if needed.
Make sure phone has the most recent software update and update if needed. To check if a software update is needed, go to “Settings” > “System Updates” > “Check for system updates.”
Check to see if charger is working properly and does not have any damage or contain any kinks. Consider purchasing a new charger if there is damage.
