Does it create a seprate volume drive by inserting the mSata SSD to install Operating System on it?

Remember, this machine is from 2013, a time when SSDs were still hella expensive! That’s why the mSATA drive is refered to as a “cache” drive: they were so small they were only good for that. A stock, untouched Zbook g1/g2 might still come with a small (32GB) mSATA SSD configured as cache in the OS.

That doesn’t mean you can’t use the mSATA drive as your main OS drive, and that’s what I’ve been doing for years without a hint of trouble. You can easily find a high capacity mSATA SSD and put your OS and I/O-intensive programs on it. The Zbook will purr along nicely.
