Introduction

The motherboard is the backbone which ties all of the key components of the computer together. A dysfunctional motherboard can cause many problems such as computer crashes, screen freezes, or causing connected devices to no longer work.

Remember to shut down the computer before beginning the replacement.

What you need

Step 1

              Keyboard Panel               
  • Remove the covers to access the screws attached to the back cover of the device.
  • Remove six 3mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Step 2

  • Use a metal spudger to loosen the four corners of the keyboard panel. The corner is circled red as shown in the first image.
  • Disconnect the keyboard panel cables under the upper case.
  • Remove the keyboard panel from the device.

Step 3

              Battery               
  • Disconnect the battery cable from the device.

Disconnect the battery cable from the device.

Step 4

  • Remove the seven Phillips #0 4.5 mm screws.
  • Remove the battery from the device.

Remove the battery from the device.

Step 5

              Motherboard               
  • Disconnect the five cable connections to the motherboard.

Disconnect the five cable connections to the motherboard.

Step 6

  • Unscrew the nine 3mm mounting screws on the motherboard using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Step 7

  • Lift the motherboard carefully then remove the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
