What you need

Step 1

              Battery               
  • Remove battery by pushing the two tabs and pulling the battery outwards slowly but firmly.

              Keyboard               
  • Use a spudger to slide under the outer plastic cover of the laptop and lift it up and away.
  • Pull off the plastic cover of the laptop.

Step 3

  • Remove all of the silver screws connecting the keyboard plate to the rest of the laptop.
  • This step allows the top plate to be removed from the body of the laptop in the following step.

Step 4

  • Use a spudger to lift the keyboard plate off of the base of the computer.
  • Some areas near the hinges may be connected with an adhesive. Take care when removing the plate in these regions.

Step 5

  • Remove the screws connecting the keyboard to the underside of the plate
  • Detach the ribbon wire connecting the keyboard to the hardware.

Step 6

  • Slowly separate the main part of the keyboard from the metal plate by pressing firmly on the key side of the keyboard and lifting from the back side.
